The ASOC 2022 year was a roller coaster for us coming out of Covid. Keeping the theater open was a challenge for the Board of Directors and all cast members, but our commitment and the commitment of this community made it happen and for that we thank you from the bottom of our hearts!
We just completed our Spring Teen show and could not be prouder of the work our cast and crew put into making Heather’s the Musical one of our biggest grossing teen shows.
While ASOC is one of many community theaters on the Oregon North Coast it is one of the highlights of a trip to Astoria. As we evolve and grow, we must sometimes change with the times and/or the needs of the community. We have several productions planned for the 2023 year as well as a few workshops and educational camps to encourage continued involvement in our theater and its arts programs. ASOC is proud to support our region and is committed to featuring diversity, inclusion, and fun for all and is a place of joy, entertainment, education, and community support.
The theater’s 2023 year will feature the 39th year of our hometown production Shanghaied in Astoria, a musical melodrama that was written by & performed by the Astor Street Opry Company every summer. It has run since 1984 and continues to draw thousands of guests together to enjoy community theater and the occasional popcorn throwing that comes with this satirical production. Shanghaied will be produced in a shorter run this year of six weeks instead of ten to ensure our cast and crew can perform the best show possible.
ASOC is reaching all their enthusiasts through marketing and want each of our fellow Clatsop County businesses and events to prosper.
